SERPed.net vs Ahrefs (2026)

Prices and features checked November 4, 2026

The short answer

Ahrefs is the stronger research tool: it runs its own crawler and backlink index and draws on 28.7 billion keywords, while SERPed.net reads its link data from Moz and Majestic. SERPed.net is the better buy for a small agency, because $79 a month covers two users, 20 sites, daily rank checks, local map grids and branded PDF reports emailed to clients on a schedule. Pick Ahrefs if competitor link and keyword research is your main job and you can pay $129 to $249 a month for one user, plus $40 to $60 for each extra seat. Pick SERPed.net if you report to clients, look after local businesses or need rankings updated every day.

Which wins for what

  • Backlink research Ahrefs Ahrefs crawls the web itself, adds fresh link data every 15 to 30 minutes and shows broken backlinks and Link Intersect, while SERPed.net relies on Moz and Majestic.

  • Tracking in AI answers Ahrefs Ahrefs Brand Radar tracks mentions and citations in Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Copilot, and SERPed.net has no matching tool.

Pricing compared

SERPed.net has three plans, and each one includes every tool. On November 4, 2026, Premium costs $79 a month for 20 sites and two team accounts, Ultimate costs $179 for 75 sites and five accounts, and Enterprise costs $379 for 200 sites and 20 accounts. Paying yearly brings those down to $53, $120 and $253 a month. Client dashboards need the Agency add-on, which SERPed.net sells at a launch price of $29 a month (list price $49). Premium and Ultimate start with 30 days for $7, and you can get a full refund if you ask within your first 30 days.

Ahrefs charges by the seat. Lite costs $129 a month, Standard $249 and Advanced $449, and Enterprise costs $1,499 a month on a yearly commitment. Each core plan includes one user, and extra users cost $40 a month on Lite, $60 on Standard and $80 on Advanced. The pricing page's own data lists yearly prices of $1,290, $2,490 and $4,490. A $29 Starter plan covers the core tools on a small credit allowance, billed monthly, with no extra users or add-ons. Ahrefs says it never runs discounts or free trials. It does not issue refunds in general, though a monthly subscriber who hasn't used the service can ask for one.

The gap grows with your team. Two people cost $79 a month on SERPed.net Premium and $169 on Ahrefs Lite. Five people cost $179 on SERPed.net Ultimate and $489 on Ahrefs Standard. Ahrefs Lite also caps each user at 1,000 credits a month and six months of history, which is why Ahrefs recommends Standard for freelancers and consultants.

If you only need data on your own site, Ahrefs Free costs nothing. Verified site owners get Site Explorer and Site Audit data, with 5,000 crawl credits a month per project, and no card is needed. SERPed.net has no free plan.

Backlinks, keywords and AI search

Ahrefs wins on research data. It crawls the web with its own bot, says it adds fresh backlink data every 15 to 30 minutes, and calls its index the largest index of live backlinks. Ahrefs Site Explorer shows any domain's backlinks, referring domains, organic keywords and top pages, and Standard adds broken backlinks, outgoing links and linking authors. Link Intersect lists sites that link to several of your rivals but not to you. Keywords Explorer draws on 28.7 billion keywords in 217 locations, with keyword difficulty and traffic potential, and Standard adds keyword clusters and search intents.

SERPed.net does not run its own index. Site Explorer and Backlinks Explorer read Moz and Majestic data, so you see Domain Authority, Page Authority, Trust Flow and Citation Flow beside SERPed's own SERPed Rank. A mid-2026 update added Ahrefs Domain Rating and Semrush Authority Score to Site Explorer and Site Manager, so you can quote those scores to a client without paying for either tool. For keywords, Keyword Analyzer gives volume, cost per click and difficulty, Long Tail Keywords pulls ideas from Google, Bing, YouTube, Amazon and eBay, and What Ranks Where now labels search intent and SERP features. That covers the keyword work most small agencies do for clients, but if link building is your whole job you will want Ahrefs' depth.

Tracking in AI answers is Ahrefs-only. Brand Radar measures how often Google AI Overviews, AI Mode, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Copilot mention or cite your brand, and Lite includes 5 of your own prompts checked daily (150 checks a month). Researching any brand across Ahrefs' prompt database is an add-on from $199 a month. SERPed.net's tool list has nothing comparable.

Rank tracking and local SEO

SERPed.net's rank tracker gives you more control. It follows Google by country, city or area, plus Bing and Yahoo by country, on desktop and mobile, and you choose how often each keyword updates. Checks come out of a monthly pool: Premium's 2,500 checks cover 83 keywords daily or 625 weekly, and Ultimate's 7,000 cover 233 daily or 1,750 weekly. Separate trackers cover YouTube and Amazon, and Instant Check shows live positions for up to 25 keywords, which helps when a client asks during a call.

Ahrefs' Rank Tracker updates weekly on every plan, Enterprise included. At that pace Lite tracks 750 keywords and Standard 2,000, in more than 190 locations down to ZIP code. If weekly updates are enough, Ahrefs Lite covers 750 keywords for $129 where SERPed.net Premium covers 625 for $79. If a client wants to see Monday's ranking change on Tuesday, you need SERPed.net.

Local SEO goes to SERPed.net. Local GeoGrid plots where a Google Business Profile ranks at points across a map, refreshed every 7 or 30 days, and Citation Scanner and Competitor Citations list the directories where a business is missing and its local rivals already appear. Ahrefs has added a GBP Monitor for managing Google Business Profiles, which its pricing page still marks as beta.

Reporting, clients and teams

Client work is SERPed.net's strongest area. On every plan you build PDF reports from rankings, backlinks and metrics, add your own branding, save them as templates, and SERPed.net emails them to you or your client daily, weekly or monthly. Site Auditor Pro is a free-audit form you put on your own site: a visitor enters their address, gets a report with your brand and contact details, and their details go to you or to an email tool such as Platformly, AWeber, Mailchimp or GetResponse. Premium includes 250 of these white-label audits a month, and Ultimate 2,500. With the Agency add-on you build drag-and-drop dashboards and create as many client accounts as you need.

Ahrefs suits the person doing the research more than the person sending the report. Lite and Standard include 5 Report Builder reports and Advanced 15, and the $99 a month Report Builder add-on raises that to 50 with scheduling. Advanced adds a Looker Studio connection, and every core plan includes API and MCP access, so you can pull Ahrefs data into your own scripts or ask an AI assistant about it. Ahrefs' tool list has no lead-capture audit form, and each extra person on the account is another monthly seat.

Ease of use and support

SERPed.net spreads its 40+ tools across ten menus, from keyword research to domain finding, and each tool has its own monthly allowance. Premium, for example, gives you 170 keyword reports, 200 in-depth metric lookups and 2,500 rank checks a month. You end up watching several counters, though you can buy extra credits from the members area when one runs out. A few tools sit outside Google's guidelines: Social Exchanger trades Google and Facebook reviews, likes and follows between members for credits, and Aged Domain Finder is pitched at building private blog networks. Leave those alone if you care about your clients' standing in Google.

Ahrefs groups most limits under credits. Lite users get 1,000 a month and Standard users have no cap, and if you switch on pay-as-you-go credits, Ahrefs charges you automatically when you go over. Upgrades take effect at once, and downgrades and cancellations at the end of the billing period.

For support, SERPed.net takes requests through a ticket form and says it replies within 24 business hours. Ahrefs has a help center of articles, and its pricing FAQ gives a support email address. Neither lists live chat or phone support on the pages we checked.

Who each one suits

Choose SERPed.net if you run a small agency or freelance for local businesses. For $79 a month you get two seats, 20 sites, daily rank checks, map-grid local tracking and branded reports that go out without you touching them, plus a lead widget that brings in prospects. Choose Ahrefs if your work is competitor research and link building, if you want keyword data at Ahrefs' scale, or if you need to see how AI answers talk about your brand. Expect to pay $249 a month for Standard, the plan Ahrefs recommends for consultants, and more for each extra person. You can also run both, using Ahrefs for research and SERPed.net for tracking and reports. Other options are Semrush for daily tracking with deep research data, and SE Ranking for a large daily keyword allowance with a free trial.

  • Two to five people share the account and you want seats included in the plan price

Choose Ahrefs if

  • Backlink research is the center of your work and you want an index built by its own crawler
  • You need large-scale keyword data with traffic potential, clusters and search intent
  • You want to track how ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Google's AI answers mention your brand
  • You want API or MCP access to pull SEO data into your own scripts or an AI assistant
  • You only need free data on your own site, which Ahrefs Free gives verified owners

Questions people ask

Is SERPed.net cheaper than Ahrefs?

Yes, at every team size we checked. On November 4, 2026, SERPed.net Premium costs $79 a month with two users included, while Ahrefs Lite costs $129 for one user and $40 for each extra. Ahrefs has a $29 Starter plan, but it is credit-limited, billed monthly and limited to one user.

Does SERPed.net use Ahrefs data?

SERPed.net's link data comes from Moz and Majestic. Since a mid-2026 update it also shows Ahrefs Domain Rating and Semrush Authority Score in Site Explorer and Site Manager. You get the score, not Ahrefs' full backlink reports.

Can I try either one for free?

Ahrefs has no trial, but Ahrefs Free gives verified site owners Site Explorer and Site Audit data on their own sites at no cost. SERPed.net has no free plan or free trial; Premium and Ultimate cost $7 for the first 30 days, and SERPed.net refunds you in full if you ask within 30 days.

Which is better for tracking keyword rankings?

SERPed.net, if you need daily updates or engines beyond Google, because you set the update interval and it covers Bing, Yahoo, YouTube and Amazon. Ahrefs updates rankings weekly on every plan, though Lite tracks 750 keywords at that pace against 625 weekly on SERPed.net Premium.

Which is better for an SEO agency?

For a small agency, SERPed.net: team seats are included, every plan sends scheduled white-label reports, and the Agency add-on gives clients their own dashboards for $29 a month. A larger agency that sells link building and competitor research usually needs Ahrefs' data as well.
