The short answer
Pick Convertful if you only need pop-ups and forms: it costs less at every pageview tier we compared ($29 a month for 25,000 pageviews against Privy's $48) and it can show or hide widgets by the tags in your email platform. Pick Privy if you run a Shopify store and want pop-ups, email and texts in one account, since $30 a month covers up to 1,500 opted-in contacts with unlimited sends and 250 text credits. Agencies should choose Convertful for its white-label plans. Privy is easier to try, with a 15-day trial that asks for no card.

Pricing compared
Both vendors price their pop-up tools by monthly pageviews, and Convertful costs less at every tier we could match. These are monthly prices in US dollars, checked November 4, 2026.
| Monthly pageviews | Convertful | Privy (Pop-ups & Displays only) |
|---|---|---|
| 10,000 | $9 (Solo: 1 site, Convertful branding) | $24 |
| 25,000 | $29 (Starter) | $48 |
| 50,000 | $39 (Starter) | $84 |
| 100,000 | $59 (Starter) | $168 |
| 200,000 | $99 (Growth) | $300 |
| 500,000 | $179 (Enterprise) | $420 |
| 1,000,000 | $249 (Enterprise) | $600 |
Convertful's yearly plans cut the cost further. Starter is $204 a year for 25,000 pageviews, about $17 a month, and Solo is $84 a year. Privy's pricing page says it has no annual contracts. Convertful counts a pageview only when a widget shows to the visitor, and several widgets on one page count once. Privy doesn't explain how it counts page views, so if it counts every page a visitor opens, the gap is wider than the table shows.
Privy's main plan is a different purchase. It costs $30 a month for up to 1,500 mailable contacts (people who opted in to your marketing) and includes unlimited email sends, pop-ups and 250 text credits. Each extra 1,000 contacts adds about $15, so 5,000 contacts cost $90, 10,000 cost $165 and 50,000 cost $540. Extra text credits start at $20 a month for 1,250, and unused credits roll over. To compare fairly, add the price of your email platform to Convertful's.
Limits work differently. When a Convertful account reaches its pageview limit, widgets stop showing until the 1st of the next month, unless you tick auto-increase in billing to move up a plan; Convertful emails you at 95%. Privy moves an email account up a tier when you pass your contact limit and charges the difference pro rata. Its pricing page doesn't say what happens when a displays-only account passes its page view tier. Convertful refunds within 14 days of a first payment and 7 days of a renewal, and VAT or local tax may be added.
Pop-ups and targeting head to head
Both build the formats most sites need. Convertful lists pop-ups, floating bars, scroll boxes, full-screen welcome mats, inline forms and floating buttons, plus spin-to-win wheels, scratch cards, quizzes, surveys, countdowns and content locks. Privy lists sign-up and exit-intent pop-ups, announcement and free shipping bars, spin-to-win, cart savers, cross-sell pop-ups, multi-step pop-ups and quizzes, and its displays plan adds landing pages and embedded forms. A/B testing comes with Convertful from Starter up and with Privy's displays plan.
Convertful goes further on targeting. It reads tags, lists and custom fields from your email platform, so people who already subscribed stop seeing the newsletter pop-up and a contact tagged as a buyer can see a different offer. It can also target by UTM parameters, referrer, visit number, cookies, screen width, WordPress post category and the visitor's city, region or country, and it can react to whether someone saw, closed or filled in another widget. Privy's display rules cover exit intent, time on page, scroll depth, pages viewed, device, cart value and whether the visitor is already a customer. That list covers what most stores use, and the cart value rule suits a free shipping bar.
Convertful's buttons can do more after a click: send extra data to your CRM, post to a URL, email a notification, open another widget, run JavaScript or add a product to the cart on Shopify and WooCommerce. On Starter and above, its AI writes widget titles and descriptions, makes text variants for A/B tests and creates images from a written prompt. Privy's displays and pricing pages don't mention AI tools.
Email, texts and the follow-up
Privy wins this part outright, because Convertful doesn't send email or texts. Convertful collects the lead and passes it to the email platform you already use. Its docs list 35 integrations, including ActiveCampaign, HubSpot, Keap, Kit, Klaviyo, Mailchimp, MailerLite and Platformly, plus Zapier and n8n. You still pay for and run that email tool.
Privy's email plan sends the follow-up for you. You get a drag-and-drop editor with product and coupon blocks, ready-made flows for abandoned carts, new visitors, post-purchase follow-ups and win-backs, segments built from shopping behavior and engagement, and reports on sign-up rate and the revenue each message brought in. Texts run in the same account with merge tags, quiet hours and two-way conversations, but only to US and Canadian numbers; the UK and Australia are listed as coming soon. Privy's integrations page lists 21 connections, among them Shopify, BigCommerce, Wix, Klaviyo, Mailchimp, Gorgias, Yotpo, Recharge and Zapier.
If you already pay for Klaviyo or Mailchimp, either tool can feed it. Privy's displays-only plan syncs sign-ups to Shopify, BigCommerce, Wix and Klaviyo, among others. Convertful connects directly to more email platforms and can read their data back to decide who sees which widget.
Shopify and WooCommerce features
Both tools run spin-to-win wheels that hand out unique discount codes. Convertful creates one-time codes through its Shopify app, and through its WordPress plugin on WooCommerce stores. With either, it can show a widget only on chosen product or category pages, or when a given item is in the cart. Its Shopify App Store listing shows a $10 one-time charge and doesn't say whether that comes on top of a Convertful plan.
Privy connects to Shopify, BigCommerce, Squarespace, Weebly, Wix and WooCommerce. It can give each sign-up its own random code, with an optional prefix, or one shared code for everyone. Its help center notes one limit: WooCommerce and BigCommerce stores can't use unique codes in email campaigns.
For a Shopify store that wants the pop-up, the welcome email and the abandoned cart text to come from one place, Privy is the better fit. For a WooCommerce store that already has an email platform it likes, Convertful's product-page rules and add-to-cart buttons cost less and do more on the page itself.
Setup, ease of use and trials
We didn't test either tool hands-on for this comparison, so this is based on each vendor's documented setup. Convertful runs on any site where you can paste a script or use Google Tag Manager, and its WordPress plugin and Shopify app skip the code. Privy has a Shopify app and a WordPress plugin, and guides for BigCommerce, Squarespace, Weebly and Wix.
On Shopify, Privy asks you to set up less, because one account holds the pop-up, the email and the text. With Convertful you connect your email platform first and then build targeting rules. Those rules take longer to learn, and they give you more control over who sees what.
Privy is easier to try. Its 15-day trial asks for no credit card and includes every feature except texts, which support can turn on for a trial. During the trial, emails go to at most 100 contacts a day. Convertful gives 14 days on every plan, but its trial buttons lead to a checkout page and the site doesn't say whether it needs a card.
Support and the companies behind them
Convertful lists live chat, a help desk, a knowledge base, video guides and a members group, with dedicated support on Enterprise. Privy lists live chat and email support, and offers a dedicated strategist with quarterly check-ins to review performance; it doesn't publish what the strategist costs or which plans include one. Neither vendor lists support hours.
The companies differ too. Privy Operations, LLC is based in Los Angeles, has worked with online stores since 2011, and bought the texting company Emotive in July 2025 and Sendlane in February 2026. Its terms use Massachusetts law. Convertful's terms name Sovereign Net LTD, registered in Road Town in the British Virgin Islands, with BVI law and courts, and Paddle handles payments as merchant of record. If your finance or legal team requires a US vendor, Privy clears that bar and Convertful doesn't.
Who each one suits
Convertful suits bloggers, course sellers, service businesses and stores that already have an email platform and want cheaper pop-ups with sharper targeting. Agencies get the most from it: Agency Bronze costs $179 a month for 500,000 pageviews, 25 sites, unlimited client sub-accounts and a white-label dashboard on your own subdomain. Compare it with OptinMonster and OptiMonk if you mainly want a bigger template library or a free tier.
Privy suits small Shopify stores that want one bill for pop-ups, email and texts to US and Canadian customers, and prefer paying only for opted-in contacts. If you need texts outside the US and Canada, compare it with Klaviyo and Omnisend before you commit.

Questions people ask
Is Convertful cheaper than Privy?
For pop-ups alone, yes. On November 4, 2026, Convertful cost $29 a month for 25,000 pageviews and Privy's displays-only plan cost $48; at 100,000 pageviews the prices were $59 and $168. Privy's $30 email plan includes email and texts as well, so add your email platform's price to Convertful's before comparing that plan.
Does Convertful send emails or texts?
No. Convertful collects leads and passes them to your email platform, and it can read that platform's tags and fields to target widgets. Its docs list 35 integrations, including Klaviyo, Mailchimp, ActiveCampaign and HubSpot.
Can I use Privy pop-ups with Klaviyo?
Yes. Privy's Pop-ups & Displays plan, from $24 a month, syncs sign-ups to Klaviyo as well as to Shopify, BigCommerce and Wix. Mailchimp is also on Privy's integrations page.
Which is better for WooCommerce?
Convertful does more on the page for WooCommerce stores: its WordPress plugin creates one-time discount codes, adds products to the cart and targets product pages. Privy works on WooCommerce too, but its help center says unique coupon codes aren't supported in email campaigns there.
Do Convertful or Privy have a free plan?
Neither has a free plan. Convertful has a 14-day trial on every plan, and Privy has a 15-day trial with no card that limits email sends to 100 contacts a day.
Which is better for agencies?
Convertful. Agency Bronze costs $179 a month for 500,000 pageviews, 25 sites, unlimited sub-accounts and a white-label dashboard on your own subdomain. Privy doesn't list agency or white-label plans on its pricing page.
