The short answer
Convertful is the better buy for most small businesses, stores and agencies. For 25,000 views a month on three sites it costs $29 a month against OptinMonster's $87, and its widgets can react to tags and fields in ActiveCampaign, Klaviyo, HubSpot and other email platforms. OptinMonster wins on breadth, with more than 700 templates, content lockers, revenue per campaign and a WordPress plugin on more than a million sites. Pick OptinMonster if you run a WordPress publication or need campaigns that keep running through traffic spikes. Prices checked November 4, 2026.
Which wins for what

Pricing compared
Both vendors publish prices in US dollars, checked November 4, 2026. The plans line up best at three levels of traffic:
| Traffic and sites | Convertful | OptinMonster |
|---|---|---|
| Entry plan, 1 site | Solo: 10,000 pageviews, $9 a month or $84 a year | Basic: 2,500 campaign views, $21 a month or $108 for the first year, then $210 a year |
| 25,000 views, 3 sites, no branding | Starter: from $29 a month or $204 a year | Pro: $87 a month or $444 for the first year, then $870 a year |
| 100,000 views or more, 5 sites | Growth: 125,000 pageviews from $69 a month or $564 a year | Growth: 100,000 views, $147 a month or $804 for the first year, then $1,470 a year |
The gap widens after the first year. OptinMonster's yearly prices are introductory, and its pricing page says renewals are at full price, which works out 76% to 96% higher depending on the plan. Over two years at the 25,000-view level, OptinMonster Pro costs $1,314 billed yearly. Convertful Starter would cost $408 over the same two years if its yearly price stays at $204, and its pricing page shows no first-year-only rates.
The plans hold different things, so compare contents as well as price. Convertful's Solo plan shows Convertful branding and its card lists only "All Widgets and Elements", so most buyers will want Starter, which adds two-way CRM sync, A/B tests, multi-step widgets, AI and webhooks. OptinMonster spreads its features over four plans: A/B testing starts on Plus; exit intent, revenue attribution, webhooks and badge removal on Pro; coupon wheels and the Shopify and WooCommerce integrations on Growth.
On Shopify, Convertful's app lists a $10 one-time charge in the App Store. OptinMonster's Shopify app bills through Shopify at $49 a month for its Growth plan, with a 30-day free trial.
Neither has a free-forever plan. Convertful gives a 14-day trial on every plan and refunds a first payment within 14 days (7 days for renewals). OptinMonster's free account gives you Basic features for 500 campaign views in total and then moves you to Plus; its 14-day money-back guarantee does not cover renewals.
Targeting and triggers head to head
Both tools fire on exit intent, time on page, scroll depth, inactivity and clicks, and both can target by page, referrer, device, cookies and location. They differ in what each knows about the visitor.
Convertful talks to your email platform in both directions. Its targeting can read tags, lists and custom fields from about a dozen platforms, among them ActiveCampaign, HubSpot, Klaviyo, Kit, Keap, Mailchimp and Platformly. Someone who already joined your list stops seeing the newsletter pop-up, and a customer tagged as a buyer can see an upsell in its place. Button actions can send extra data back to the CRM, POST to a URL, open another widget or run JavaScript. Convertful lists exit intent among its standard triggers and does not tie it to a higher plan.
OptinMonster goes deeper on page-level signals. It can target by HTML element, JavaScript variable, cookie and AdBlock use, and Smart Success hides an offer from anyone who has already taken it. Follow-up campaigns show a new offer based on how a visitor reacted to an earlier one. You pay for that depth by moving up the plan ladder: exit intent, referrer and cookie targeting need Pro, and geolocation, new-or-returning targeting and OnSite Retargeting need Growth.
If your email platform holds the useful facts about each visitor, Convertful puts them to work on every widget. If you care more about which page someone is reading and where they came from, OptinMonster gives you more rules to choose from.
Templates, campaign types and AI
OptinMonster has the bigger library, with more than 700 templates on every plan plus playbooks modeled on other brands' campaigns. Its campaign types cover lightbox pop-ups, floating bars, slide-ins, fullscreen welcome mats, inline forms, yes/no forms, countdown timers, coupon wheels and content lockers. Content lockers hide part of an article until the reader signs up, and Convertful does not list an equivalent.
Convertful starts you from 100+ templates (its pricing page says 71 in one place) across six formats: pop-ups, scroll boxes, floating bars, fullscreen welcome mats, inline forms and floating buttons. Multi-step widgets turn a pop-up into a quiz, a poll or a run of upsells, and you can tag each visitor by the answers they give.
For AI, Convertful's Starter plan and above write or rewrite widget titles and descriptions, produce text variants for A/B tests and make images from a written prompt. OptinMonster's Smart Optimizations rewrites campaign copy with one click, and every plan lists MCP server access, so you can create and manage campaigns from an AI assistant.
Coupons and online stores
Coupon wheels are where the price gap between the two shows most. Convertful offers spin-to-win wheels and scratch cards. Through its Shopify app, or its WordPress plugin with WooCommerce, each winner gets a unique one-time discount code, and a button can add a product to the shopper's cart. Display rules can follow product pages or what is already in the cart. Every Convertful plan lists all widgets and elements, and Starter adds CRM sync and A/B tests for $29 a month.
OptinMonster puts coupon wheels on Growth, together with its Shopify, WooCommerce, Magento, Easy Digital Downloads and MemberPress integrations. Growth costs $67 a month billed yearly for the first year, $1,470 a year at renewal, or $147 billed monthly. In return you also get geolocation, OnSite Retargeting and unlimited sub-accounts, and revenue attribution (included from Pro) shows what each campaign sold.
A store that already needs 100,000 views a month will find the two closer in value. For a store with modest traffic, Convertful gets a coupon wheel in front of shoppers for a fraction of the cost.
Setup and day-to-day use
Both install the same way on most sites. Convertful works wherever you can add its script or a Google Tag Manager tag, with connection guides for WordPress, Shopify, Wix, Squarespace, BigCommerce, Magento, PrestaShop, Drupal and others. OptinMonster runs on any HTML site and names WordPress, Shopify, WooCommerce, Magento, Squarespace and Wix.
On WordPress, OptinMonster has the more established plugin, with more than 1 million active installs and a 4.3 rating from 822 reviews on WordPress.org. Convertful's plugin shows 3,000+ installs and a 4.3 rating from six reviews (both checked November 4, 2026).
The usage meters behave differently, and that decides how closely you have to watch them. Both count a view when a campaign shows, and Convertful counts several widgets on the same page as one view. When you reach your limit, Convertful stops showing widgets until the 1st of the next month unless you tick auto-increase in billing, and it emails you at 95%. OptinMonster's default on Basic, Plus and Pro is an automatic upgrade to the next plan, and on Growth it adds 100,000-view blocks at $29 a month each. Both let you change the default. With Convertful's settings left alone, a traffic spike can leave you without forms for the rest of the month; with OptinMonster's, it raises your bill.
Support and the companies behind them
Convertful lists live chat, a support portal, a knowledge base, video guides and a members group, and its Enterprise plan adds dedicated support. It does not publish which channels each plan gets. The company is Sovereign Net LTD, registered in Road Town, Tortola, British Virgin Islands, with BVI law in its terms and Paddle handling billing as merchant of record. If your finance team needs a US or EU contracting entity, check this before you buy.
OptinMonster's features page promises email and chat support on weekdays, and its contact page says the Product Success team usually replies in under two hours. Retyp, LLC operates it under Florida law, and it has been running since 2013.
Who each one suits
Convertful suits small businesses, store owners and agencies that want CRM-aware pop-ups and gamified coupons without paying for a top plan. Its agency tiers make it the practical pick for anyone running forms on many client sites: Bronze is $179 a month for 25 sites, Silver $299 for 50 and Gold $499 for 75, each with unlimited sub-accounts and a white-label dashboard ($1,164, $1,764 and $2,964 billed yearly).
OptinMonster suits WordPress publishers, bloggers and busier stores that want the largest template library, content lockers and revenue per campaign, and that would rather pay for extra traffic than lose forms mid-month. Budget for its renewal price rather than the first-year offer.
If neither fits, OptiMonk has a free-forever plan with 10,000 pageviews a month on one domain.

Questions people ask
Is Convertful cheaper than OptinMonster?
Yes, at every matching level of traffic we compared. For 25,000 views a month on three sites, Convertful Starter costs $29 a month and OptinMonster Pro $87. Billed yearly, it is $204 against $444 for OptinMonster's first year and $870 at renewal (checked November 4, 2026).
Do Convertful or OptinMonster have a free plan?
Neither has a free-forever plan. Convertful gives a 14-day trial on every plan. OptinMonster's free account includes Basic features for 500 campaign views in total, which do not reset, and then moves you to the paid Plus plan.
Which one has exit intent on the cheapest plan?
OptinMonster starts exit intent on Pro, at $37 a month billed yearly for the first year or $87 monthly. Convertful lists exit intent among its standard triggers and its pricing page does not reserve it for a higher plan, but the Solo plan card does not list triggers, so test it during the 14-day trial.
Which is better for a Shopify store?
For most small stores, Convertful. Its Shopify app hands out unique one-time codes from spin-to-win wheels and scratch cards and can add products to the cart, and Starter costs $29 a month. OptinMonster's coupon wheels and Shopify integration need Growth, and its Shopify App Store listing charges $49 a month with a 30-day trial.
What happens if I go over my monthly views?
Convertful stops showing widgets until the 1st of the next month unless you tick auto-increase, which moves you up a tier. OptinMonster upgrades Basic, Plus and Pro accounts by default and adds 100,000-view blocks at $29 a month on Growth. Both let you change that setting.
Which has more integrations?
OptinMonster advertises 50+, including Zapier, Uncanny Automator and webhooks. Convertful's docs list 35, including Zapier and n8n, and about a dozen of them can feed tags and fields back into widget targeting.
