Email newsletters, automations and digital product sales for creators.

Best for creators who sell digital products, courses or paid newsletters to their email list

Facts checked November 4, 2026

The short answer

Kit, called ConvertKit until October 2024, suits writers, coaches, podcasters and course creators who want their list, their automations and their product sales in one account. The free plan is generous at up to 10,000 subscribers, and paid plans add visual automations, sponsorship matching and paid recommendations that can bring in money as well as subscribers. Automations start on the $39 Creator plan, and the price climbs quickly with list size: $139 a month at 10,000 subscribers. It has no sales pipeline or deal tracking, so B2B teams that sell through calls should look elsewhere.

Choose it if

  • You sell ebooks, courses, coaching or paid newsletter subscriptions and want delivery handled by your email platform, at 3.5% plus 30 cents per sale with card processing included
  • You want to grow your list through other creators' recommendations, and earn when your readers join creators you recommend
  • You have fewer than 10,000 subscribers and only need broadcasts, forms and landing pages, which the free plan covers
  • You want a brand to pay for ad slots in your newsletter without negotiating deals yourself
  • You use Claude, ChatGPT or Gemini and want them to read your Kit data and draft or schedule emails that you approve first

Main features

  • Visual Automations

You build flows on a canvas that move subscribers down different paths when they sign up, buy, click a link or reach a date. Creator and Pro only.

  • Email sequences

Write a welcome series, launch run or email course once and Kit sends it to each new subscriber in order. Sequences can skip people who have already bought.

  • Landing pages and forms

Every plan, including Free, gets unlimited landing pages from 20+ templates and inline, pop-up and slide-in forms that tag subscribers by interest when they sign up.

  • Digital products and paid newsletters

Sell ebooks, courses, coaching, tips and paid newsletter tiers from Kit, which delivers the product and keeps free and paying readers on one list. Every plan pays 3.5% plus 30 cents per sale, card processing included.

  • Recommendations and Paid Recommendations

Creators suggest each other's newsletters at sign-up, which brings you subscribers for free. With Paid Recommendations you can pay per subscriber or earn when your readers join someone else, and Kit keeps 23.5% of those earnings.

  • Newsletter sponsorships

On Creator and Pro, Kit matches your newsletter with advertisers. You approve each ad and get paid per click.

  • Kit MCP

Connect Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini or Cursor to your account so they can look up subscriber data, tag people and draft or schedule emails. Nothing changes until you approve it. Creator and Pro.

  • Subscriber Signals and engagement scoring

Pro rates each subscriber from one to five stars, adds age, income and location estimates, and alerts you when an influential subscriber joins. Useful when you pitch sponsors.

  • Abandoned checkout recovery

Creator and Pro can email shoppers who leave a checkout on Shopify, Fourthwall or Wix.

  • Free migration

On paid plans, a Kit specialist moves your list and setup over from your current email platform at no charge.

Questions people ask

Is Kit the same company as ConvertKit?

Yes. ConvertKit renamed itself Kit on October 1, 2024, and moved to kit.com. Nathan Barry started the company in 2013, and it says more than 550,000 creators now use Kit.

Is Kit free?

Kit has a free plan for up to 10,000 subscribers with unlimited landing pages, forms and broadcasts, and you can sell digital products on it. It leaves out visual automations, email sequences, RSS campaigns and paid App Store apps, allows one user, and shows Kit branding. If you pass 10,000 subscribers you need to upgrade to keep sending.

How much does Kit cost?

As of November 4, 2026, Creator costs $39 a month and Pro $79 a month for 1,000 subscribers, billed monthly. Paying yearly costs 10 months' price: $390 for Creator and $790 for Pro, with Pro at $593 for the first year until November 7, 2026. Both plans cost more as your list grows, for example $139 and $189 a month at 10,000 subscribers.

What happens when I go over my subscriber limit?

Kit moves you up to the next subscriber tier automatically, so your forms and emails keep working. It bills by confirmed, active subscribers, and no plan limits how many emails you send. To move back down after deleting subscribers, you email [email protected].

Does Kit take a cut of my sales?

On every plan, digital product and subscription sales cost 3.5% plus 30 cents per transaction, with card processing included in that figure. Earnings through Paid Recommendations carry a separate 23.5% Kit fee.

Can I add pop-ups and spin-to-win forms to my Kit list?

Kit's own forms cover inline, pop-up and slide-in styles on every plan, which is enough for most creators. For gamified forms or pop-ups that change with a visitor's tags, Convertful lists Kit among its integrations and passes new leads straight to your list.

Does Kit offer refunds?

New customers can ask for a full refund within 30 days of their first payment, on monthly or yearly plans. After 30 days Kit doesn't refund payments, and if you cancel you keep access until the end of the period you've paid for.
