Sender

Free plan

Email campaigns, automations, popups and transactional email for small businesses and online shops.

Best for small businesses that want automations on a free plan of up to 2,500 subscribers

Facts checked November 4, 2026

The short answer

Sender puts more on its free plan than most of its rivals: 2,500 subscribers, 15,000 emails a month, automations, popups, 10 landing pages and transactional email, with 24/7 live chat support. Paid plans stay cheap at small list sizes ($15 a month for 1,000 subscribers on Standard), and prepaid email credits suit a list you only email a few times a year. The weak spots are a short integrations list, no mobile app, a single seat on Free, and a $9 entry tier that covers only 500 subscribers, so leaving Free with a full list costs $27 a month.

Choose it if

  • You have up to 2,500 subscribers and want a welcome series, a birthday email or an abandoned-cart reminder without paying anything
  • You email a large list a few times a year and would rather buy credits ($29 for 5,000 emails, with no subscriber limit) than pay every month
  • You run a Shopify, WooCommerce or PrestaShop store and want cart emails, popups and text messages from one account
  • You want to reach a person on live chat at any hour, even on a free account
  • You want Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor to draft campaigns and build workflows inside your account, which Sender allows on every plan

Main features

  • Automation on every plan

Build workflows from premade templates or from scratch, with event triggers, delays and split conditions, even on Free. Auto-resend to people who didn't open needs Standard, and workflows that include text messages need Professional.

  • Drag-and-drop and HTML editor

Start from more than 100 templates or paste your own HTML, then add ecommerce blocks such as abandoned cart and order summary, a product picker and video. Dark-mode preview and an email size checker come on every plan; the countdown timer and review block need Professional.

  • Signup forms and popups

Choose from 40+ templates for embedded forms, popups and a spin-to-win wheel, and set exit intent, timing, page targeting and how often a visitor sees one. Forms can collect SMS opt-ins with TCPA and GDPR consent. Free accounts show Sender branding on them.

  • Landing pages

Free includes 10 landing pages with SEO settings and responsive templates. Standard and above remove the branding, lift the page limit and let you publish on your own domain.

  • Transactional email by SMTP or API

Send receipts, password resets and order updates through the same account as your newsletters, on every plan including Free. Each transactional email counts toward your monthly send limit, and log retention runs from 1 day on Free and Standard to 5 days on Professional.

  • SMS campaigns

Send one-off texts or text sequences from Standard upward, paying for credits by destination country. Professional includes free SMS credits each month equal to its subscription fee.

  • Segments and store data

Premade ecommerce segments and behavioral targeting work with the Shopify, WooCommerce and PrestaShop connections. Ecommerce sales reports start on Standard; reports by group and by inbox provider need Professional.

  • MCP server for AI assistants

Connect Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor with one URL on any plan, including Free, and ask about campaigns, build segments or draft emails. Campaigns arrive as drafts and new workflows stay inactive, so nothing goes out until you send it from Sender.

  • Prepaid email credits

Buy credits instead of a subscription, at one credit per email, with no cap on subscribers and no Sender logo. Sender's billing help says credits don't expire, though its terms say they may lapse after 12 months with no account activity.

Pricing

List prices in US dollars, billed monthly, checked November 4, 2026, from the pricing page and the price table it loads. VAT is added at checkout. On that date Sender was running a Black Friday sale: 30% off yearly plans for everyone (Standard works out at $6.30 a month for 500 subscribers) and, for first-time customers only, 40% off Standard or 60% off Professional paid 24 months upfront ($129.60 and $144 for two years at 500 subscribers). Sender did not give an end date.

Questions people ask

Does Sender's free plan expire?

No. The Free Forever plan has no end date and covers up to 2,500 subscribers and 15,000 emails a month, with Sender branding on your emails, forms and pages. Every new account also gets 14 days of the Professional plan with no credit card, and it drops back to Free on its own when the trial ends.

How much does Sender cost?

Standard starts at $9 a month for 500 subscribers and Professional at $15, billed monthly. At 1,000 subscribers they cost $15 and $20, and at 5,000 they cost $39 and $79. Prepaid credits start at $29 for 5,000 emails. These are list prices checked November 4, 2026, before VAT and before Sender's Black Friday discounts.

What happens when I hit the free plan's limits?

Once your active subscribers reach 2,500, Sender stops you adding new contacts until you remove some or upgrade. When you've used your 15,000 emails, sending stops until the counter resets at the start of your next billing cycle, and scheduled campaigns and automations may pause. Unsubscribed and bounced contacts don't count toward the limit.

Can Sender send transactional emails?

Yes. Every plan, Free included, can send transactional email through SMTP or Sender's API, so order confirmations and password resets can come from the same account as your newsletters. Those emails count toward your monthly send limit.

Does Sender have a mobile app?

No. Sender's help center says there is no mobile app and suggests using the web app in a phone browser. It also says building a campaign on a phone is possible but hard going.

How do Sender's prepaid credits work?

You buy a block of credits, from $29 for 5,000, and each email to one person uses one credit. There's no subscriber limit and no Sender logo. The billing help says credits don't expire, but the terms of service say they may expire if your account has no activity for 12 months. Don't buy credits to top up a subscription: Sender says that switches your account from the subscription to credits.

Can I get a refund from Sender?

Sender's terms say it does not refund unused or partly used monthly or yearly plans, including a plan bought by mistake. The only refund it promises is when Sender ends your service without cause partway through a paid year. Use the free plan and the 14-day Professional trial to test it before you pay.

Where is Sender based?

Sender is run by UAB Sender.lt from Vilnius, Lithuania, and was founded in 2012. Its pricing page lists EU data residency and GDPR compliance on every plan.
