Deel
Hire, pay and manage contractors and employees in other countries, with US PEO and HR in the same account.
Best for companies that hire or pay people outside the US
Facts checked November 4, 2026
The short answer
Deel puts contractor payments, employer of record hiring, a US PEO, global payroll and HR software under one login, so a company can start with one freelancer abroad and add full-time staff in new countries later without changing provider. Prices are published for most products and billed month to month. It costs more per person than some rivals, though: contractor management starts at $49 a contractor a month against Remote's $29, and global payroll for your own entities, Deel IT and the higher HR plans are quote only. A team based entirely in the US will pay less with a domestic payroll provider.
Choose it if
- Your first hire abroad is a freelancer and you want contracts, invoices and payouts handled in one place, with the contractor choosing from more than 15 payout options
- You want a full-time employee in a country where you have no company, and you'd rather Deel employ them as employer of record than set up a local entity
- You worry a long-term contractor could be treated as an employee, and you want Deel to sign the contract and take on that liability through Contractor of Record
- You have US staff and international staff and want the US PEO, benefits and the overseas hires in one account
- You want month-to-month billing on published prices instead of an annual contract
Skip it if
- Everyone you pay is in the US. OnPay charges $49 a month plus $6 per worker for full-service payroll
- You only pay contractors and want the lowest per-contractor fee. Remote lists contractor management from $29 a contractor a month
- You need HR software for a domestic team and have no plans to hire abroad, where BambooHR is the simpler choice
- You want payroll, app access and laptops run from one employee record for a mostly US team, which is how Rippling works
- You need a price for global payroll through your own entities before you talk to sales, because Deel publishes none
Main features
Contractor contracts and payouts
Deel generates local contracts, creates invoices automatically from fixed-rate contracts, and raises invoices for pay-as-you-go and milestone work once you approve it. Contractors pick from more than 15 payout options, including Wise, Revolut and crypto, or spend and hold USD balances on the Deel Card.
Contractor of Record
For contractors who might look like employees, Deel becomes the contracting party and takes on the classification liability. Its experts review the contractor's location, role and setup first, and Deel says setup usually takes up to five days after you sign its Master Service Agreement.
Employer of record
Deel employs your hire through its own entities in more than 130 countries, handling the local contract, minimum wage rules, payroll, benefits and termination. Deel says onboarding can take as little as one day, and intellectual property passes through to you.
US PEO
Deel co-employs your US staff in all 50 states, runs multi-state payroll and tax filings, and gives access to national medical plans from Aetna and Kaiser Permanente, plus dental, vision, 401(k), HSA and FSA. Each customer gets a named HR business partner and an employee handbook.
Global payroll
If you already have entities abroad, Deel runs gross-to-net payroll for employees, contractors and EOR workers together, with local tax rules and AI checks that flag missing data before you approve a run. It connects to systems such as Workday, SAP, Oracle, Okta and BambooHR.
Deel HR
Core covers worker profiles, an org chart, time off, workflows and approvals from $5 per employee a month. Advanced adds performance reviews, goals, learning and surveys, and Elite adds workforce planning and compensation, all on the same data so you don't migrate when you upgrade.
Deel IT
You can buy or lease laptops, phones and accessories that ship to new hires already set up and enrolled in device management. When someone leaves, Deel handles shipping labels and recovering the equipment.
Mobile app
On iOS and Android, managers approve contracts and pending payments, and workers move their money to their own accounts, download payslips and invoices, request time off and submit expenses.
API and webhooks
Deel's REST API covers hiring, contractor onboarding, payroll inputs such as bonuses and deductions, and off-cycle payments. Webhooks report contract, payment, timesheet and approval changes, and Deel also offers an MCP server for AI agents and a CLI.
Pricing
Starting prices from deel.com/pricing and deel.com/hr, checked November 4, 2026. Deel shows prices with a $ sign and no currency code. New US PEO order forms signed between July 15 and December 31, 2026 with a two-year minimum term get three months of platform fees credited, and leaving early means paying full list price for the whole term.

Recruiting starts at $14 per worker a month. Global payroll for your own entities, Deel IT and the Advanced and Elite HR plans are priced on request.
Does Deel have a free plan or free trial?
Deel's pricing page lists no free plan and no free trial. You can book a free demo, and you pay only for the products and people you put on Deel.
What is the difference between Deel contractor management and Contractor of Record?
With contractor management ($49 a contractor a month), you sign the contract with the contractor and Deel handles invoices, payments and paperwork. With Contractor of Record ($325 a month), Deel signs the contract itself and takes on the risk that the contractor is later classed as an employee. Contractor of Record needs a deposit of one month's pay for each contract, and Deel reviews each case before accepting it.
Is Deel an employer of record?
Yes. Deel's employer of record service employs your staff through entities it owns in more than 130 countries, from $599 per employee a month. Deel runs their local contract, payroll, taxes and benefits while they work for you.
Does Deel require a long-term contract?
Deel's pricing FAQ says its plans are month to month with no long-term commitment and that you can cancel at any time, although local labor law applies when you end an EOR employee's job. The exception is a US PEO promotion: order forms signed between July 15 and December 31, 2026 get three months of platform fees credited in exchange for a two-year minimum term.
How do contractors get paid through Deel?
Contractors choose from more than 15 payout options, including Wise, Revolut and crypto, and Deel pays in more than 120 currencies. They can also keep a USD balance on the Deel Card and withdraw money from the mobile app.
Is Deel or Remote better?
Both cover contractors, employer of record and global payroll. Remote is cheaper for contractors, at $29 a contractor a month against Deel's $49 when we checked on November 4, 2026, and both list employer of record from $599 per employee a month (Remote's price is for annual contracts). Deel adds a US PEO, recruiting and IT equipment in the same account, which makes it the better fit if you'll need those.
