Pros: I got this when I went to study in Hong Kong only to find that I could not access a lot of the TV content that I get back home. I also found that lots of people in Asia use VPNs because they are more security conscious. So far it has worked very well for me. Not only can I watch all the shows I usually enjoy at home, I am also able to protect all the content on my devices, which is important because I do a lot of research.
